My Fall Wishlist
So after all the trouble I went through with fixing my central air last week, it’s safe to say that I am way past ready for summer to be over! Sometimes in Louisiana it seems like we have only 2 seasons, Summer and Winter. We really don’t get too much Autumn, which really sucks because it is definitely my favorite season. There’s nothing like feeling that first cool Autumn breeze come rolling in; it lets you know that the days are about to get shorter and cooler, and all the good things like holidays, baking, and family get togethers are just around the corner.
Even though it’s the end of August and still over 100 degrees here, I wanted to share with ya’ll some things I am really wanting to try, or looking forward to getting for this Fall season!!
I know I am a little late to this trend, but I never paint my nails in the summer. I would much rather paint my nails in the Fall and Winter, because we are always going somewhere on the weekends and getting together with our families. So this fall I am going to use OPI Shatter Nail Polish along with the Fall colors I already love.
The way you make these awesome looking nails is quite easy. You can paint your nails with 2 coats of whatever color you want, then after they are completely dry, top them with 1 coat of the Shatter treatment. I’m not sure how it works, but the result is very cool, as you can see. Your nails get a layered, textured look. OPI had introduced the line with the Shatter only in black. The Shatter comes in a few colors now, since it’s so popular. I think I am definitely going to try the purple and silver polishes with the black Shatter on top. (If you can’t find the black Shatter from OPI, try to look for other brands in drugstores or online ! )
Candles are a great way to not only make your house smell great, but create ambiance during the dark Autumn and Winter seasons. There’s just something about a candle burning that makes a house feel like a cozy and welcoming home.
Candles by Victoria is a highly recommended vendor for candles. Just like a few other vendors, she has many many satisfied customers and somewhat of a cult following. Look at the picture, doesn’t that look like a mouthwatering Fall scent? CBV also makes tarts in addition to these beautiful candles. With a scent list of hundreds, I really am looking forward to trying items from Candles by Victoria soon!
Of course everyone knows that Autumn is the season for baking! I love baking so much, and most of the time it is just too darn hot too turn on my oven in the Summer. This is definitely one of the big reasons why I can’t wait for cooler weather.
I love these two unique baking pans. My husband loves Cinnamon Sugar donuts, but it is always to much trouble (not to mention fattening) to drag out the deep fryer and fill it with oil, wait for it to preheat and so on. This pan lets you have delicious donuts with having to fry them!
This is the other pan I really want! It’s called a muffin top, or muffin crown pan. It lets you bake only what everyone knows is the best part of muffins–the tops! This pan makes really fluffy, thick muffin tops, without having to make a whole muffin and waste the bottom part of it (not that they would be waster, knowing my husband). Actually, the thing that I really love about this pan is that you can also make giant sized cookies in it!
Martina McBride has always been one of my favorite artists, and in my opinion one of the best voices in music. I also really appreciate that she is a mom of 3 girls and still has her career! My awesome hubby took me to one of her concerts for my birthday this year. It was absolutely spectacular. It is so amazing to hear her in person, because she actually sounds BETTER than on her CD’s. I don’t think many artists out now can say that.
At the concert we got to hear a few of the songs from her new album that’s coming out in October, and they were great! I’m really looking forward to getting this CD. Check out this video, and let me know if you can get through it without crying: “I’m Gonna Love You Through It.
I’m one of those people who has to read the book before seeing the movie, so I did not get to see Water for Elephants while it was in theaters. I just recently finished the book, and I have heard the movie adaptation is very faithful to it, so I can’t wait to see this film. In any event, it will be nice to see Robert Pattinson play something other than Edward Cullen!
I have been wanting this for years, and I hope I get it this year! The Better Homes & Gardens cookbook has been around since the early 1900’s, and it’s so cool that many of the original recipes are still in the book today. This book has hundreds of recipes and photos, which is just the thing I need when I am getting bored of cooking the same things over and over again. I own many cookbooks, but this is a classic and I believe everyone needs one in their home.
These are just a few of the things I am looking forward to for this Autumn season! Please, leave me a comment and let me know what you think about my wishlist items, or let me know….what’s on your wishlist?

When you get the shatter polish, only use one coat of shatter. The two coat step is with your regular nail color, which goes under the shatter and should be completely dry before applying the crackle. OPI black shatter may be hard to come by now since its been a while since release, but there are tons of companies making crackle polishes now. China Glaze, Sally Hansen, some off brands on ebay and I believe a few other drug store brands. 🙂
The BHG cookbook is really awesome! I got mine at a yard sale for next to nothing and wouldn’t trade it for the world!
Thanks Jen 🙂 I’ll edit to add that info.
The shatter polish is a great effect…it looks great over a light neutral like a light beige or pink…you are gonna like Water for Elephants…Robert Pat is super sexy as always and Reese is stunning 🙂 Enjoy!
I totally want to try CBV as well, plus Broken Wheel Primitives which also has super awesome looking candles.
And OMG I want that muffin top cook pan- seriously: does anyone eat the bottom part of the muffin ever? I want that pan!
