BOOK TOUR REVIEW: Blood Jewel by Georgia Cates
Blood Jewel
by Georgia Cates
The Vampire Agape Series, Book Two
Book Description
With the mystery of Chansey Leclaire and Curry Brennan’s connection solved, they are free to explore their newfound love for one another. Or so they thought…
When Marsala uses a witch and black magic to discover Curry’s whereabouts, he and Chansey are left with no choice. The newly engaged couple is forced to relocate away from their families at the new compound in Savannah, which causes some major changes in the plans for their upcoming wedding.
Relocating to Savannah might have saved Curry and Chansey from being discovered by Marsala, but it doesn’t stop her attempts to reach Curry or her efforts to harm Chansey through the use of black magic. As Marsala closes in, Curry faces the decision he never wanted to make. Will he keep Chansey human or condemn her to eternity as the thing he hates most?
As Curry waits for his hand to be forced, a newly turned vampire arrives at the Savannah compound in need of help. Not only is she a fledgeling in transition, she brings reports of escaping from a vampire cult still in possession of her sister, a human. Any attempt to save the captive human from a cult of vampires puts everyone in jeopardy. Can they risk entering a large cult to save one human being? And is so, how could they possibly do it successfully?
Love will grow. New mysteries will arise. A battle will ensue. A Blood Jewel will be found.
MY THOUGHTS: 4 OUT OF 5 FLEURS DE LIS
THIS REVIEW IS OF THE SECOND BOOK IN A SERIES, AND THEREFORE WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS OF THE FIRST BOOK.
Curry and Chansey are soon to be married, and are happily making plans to start their new lives together. But Marsala, the maker that Curry escaped 22 years ago, is not ready to let go of him yet. Through the use of Black Magic, she attacks Chansey and forces Curry and his family to consider making Chansey death proof.
Soon events will transpire that will not only change Chansey and Curry’s lives, but their vampire and human family’s too. More than that, it might make them believe in miracles.
I enjoyed this book quite a bit more than the first in the series. The characters seemed to have changed, and there were several “OMG” moments.
I loved Curry in the first book, but kind of fell head over heels for him in this book. He dotes on Chansey so much and caters to her every whim, often before she even voices it to him. He draws her bubble baths, for heaven’s sake. SIGH…
Marriage seems to have changed Chansey for the better as well. I found her a bit annoying in the first book, but she was thoughtful and sympathetic here. I felt what she was feeling during every crazy event, and she became Curry’s peace while he was her rock.
There were times I felt the book kind of delved off into places that weren’t really relevant, but usually those parts came back to tie into the story. I still though the language used and dialogue was just somehow off.
Even so, I truly enjoyed reading this book and I am really ready for the next one!
About the Author
I am a wife, mother of two daughters and a labor and delivery nurse. I have recently added Paranormal Romance Writer to my list of things to keep be busy, but I am ecstatic to release my debut novel, Blood of Anteros, the first book inThe Vampire Agápe Series.
Like others that enjoy a great story of paranormal romance, I am easily bored by the tale of an obtainable, ordinary romance and was inspired to create The Vampire Agápe Series. When I am not tied up with my family or delivering babies, I am working feverishly on the third book in The Vampire Agápe Series.
There will be 12 ebook copies of BLOOD JEWEL given away by the author.
