Tips for balancing home and work life

Any busy mom knows that balancing work and family life can be a struggle at the best of times. Maintaining a professional career as well as looking after your children and keeping up with the housework can often cause the stress to build up. However there are ways you can help to manage your life more effectively and make sure you are a calm mom rather than a stressed-out mom!

Don’t be afraid to ask for help

If you feel like you are juggling too much, there’s no shame in asking for extra help. It may mean that you need to cut down your hours at work, ask the grandparents to look after the kids every now and again or ask your partner to help out more with the housework. There’s nothing wrong with admitting you are struggling and those close to you should be more than happy to give you an extra hand.

Look after your mental wellbeing

Stress can get on top of all of us but it’s important to look after your mental wellbeing. For some people this means taking some time out to have a tarot reading at TheCircle to get some perspective on their live. If your stress is affecting your health then you should approach your GP or local counselling service for help and advice. Making sure you can get the support you need will help you manage your life and be the best mom you can!

Make time for yourself

This may seem impossible when you are juggling so much but you shouldn’t feel like your life has to revolve around work and the kids. Try getting a babysitter in once a month and have a date night with your partner. You could even take a weekend away with the girls to give you a little ‘me’ time. Don’t be afraid to do things for yourself every now and again. It will help your stress levels and give you the opportunity to recharge your batteries.

There’s no single solution to balancing your work and family life but it’s important to be proactive and speak up if you feel like life is getting on top of you.
