3 Family Date Night Ideas Your Kids Will Love
There’s no denying that we love our date nights. It’s that spare time where you pencil in time away from the kids to reconnect with the one you love. However, what do you do when you’re feeling disconnected from your children, or simply can’t find a sitter? That’s when having a family date night idea in mind comes in handy. There are plenty of ways that you can spend time with your spouse and your children at the same time. Below are three great examples.
1. Traditional Dinner Date
What kid doesn’t love to eat? Take your children out to one of their favorite restaurants and partake in fine cuisine and great conversation. If you have older children, this is the perfect time to allow them to be “big kids” and order their own food. It can be a great learning opportunity as they read the menu, make a selection, and talk with the waiter/waitress. If you have younger children however, you might want to take them to a restaurant that also doubles as a place to play. A jungle gym, ball pen, or even some rides can help keep them occupied as they wait to eat.
2. Sporting Events
Whether local or national teams, taking your kids to a game is a wonderful experience. Not only do they get to see the players live and in action, but they also get to experience the fun and excitement in the stands. If you happen to be a sports fan yourself, you can coordinate your attire so that you look like a matching family unit. For instance, if baseball is your sport of choice, ordering MLB baby clothes with your favorite team on will make your children feel like they’re a part of the experience.
3. Get Creative with the Arts
If your kids love arts and craft projects at home, then they’ll really love this family date night idea. A lot of times county parks and community centers have art classes that are very affordable for families to attend. Your kids can learn how to paint, make pottery, or even woodworking depending on the types of classes offered. The great thing about this type of date is that not only do you get to spend time creating something together, but you have something tangible that will remind you of your special date.
Date night with your kids is supposed to be fun and exciting. It’s a great way to reconnect and expose them to different activities that you enjoy. Be sure to plan ahead so that you can get the best deals and discounts on upcoming activities and events.
