Violet VoxBox from Influenster!
I am a member of Influenster, a program that allows socially savvy ladies to try out different companies’ products and give their honest feedback.
My most recent Influenster shipment was the Violet Voxbox!
The Violet VoxBox contained 5 cool items. I’ll tell you my thoughts about each below.
Goody Athletique Headband
This is a black, stretchy, thick headband that secures with velcro. I have hair that’s on the fine side, so I had a lot of trouble getting this band to stay put in my hair. It definitely didn’t work when my hair was pulled back into a ponytail, but maybe it will be better if I wear it while my hair is down.
Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo
If you didn’t know, dry shampoo is an aerosol spray that allows you to go one more day without having to wash your hair–it contains alcohol and powders that absorb oil and give your hair a clean look. Not Your Mother’s dry shampoo works great and quickly–I liked that it didn’t make my hair feel stiff like some other dry shampoos have.
Montagne Jeunesse Red Earth Clay Spa Facial Mask
This is a really awesome one time use facial mask. The red clay mixture is soaked into a paper mask, and you let it sit on your face while you relax for 15 minutes. I have used these masks in the past and loved them–and the red clay version was no exception. My face felt smooth and soft without tightness.
Sally Hansen Triple Shine Polish in Play Koi
I am a total polish addict, though orange is not one of my favorite colors. Nevertheless, I didn’t mind the way this looked once it was on. The shine was definitely there, but the polish didn’t last long at all for me–it was chipping and peeling after only 3 days. I think this would be better to wear in summer, maybe.
Cranberry SoyJoy Bar
I did not like the taste of these at all. I found them to be rather dry, but I appreciated that they contained real fruit. maybe someone looking to get away from traditional nutrition bars would appreciate these–they contain less sugar than the usually chocolatey protein bars.

Get the new MATTE London Look with Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation
I’ve had an oily t-zone forever, so it’s definitely a struggle to find the foundation with the perfect mix of shine control, coverage, and staying power. Luckily, I don’t have to look anymore! Say hello to new Stay Matte Foundation by Rimmel London.
Rimmel London is bringing you new Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation – a breakthrough feather light, oil free formula with an airy mousse texture that’s comfortable on your skin, never heavy or greasy. Your new beauty staple delivers all day shine control and blends flawlessly for a natural looking matte finish, all while minimizing the appearance of pores.
The weight is over – finally, shine has met its matte.
I had to go out of town today and needed makeup that I wouldn’t have to stop to touch up or reapply. I knew it would be the ideal day to put my Stay Matte Foundation to the test!
I started off with my usual moisturizer and a primer.
Excuse my unmade bed, let’s all pretend we don’t see it.
As you can see, I have some redness around my nose, and just a generally oily forehead.
So time to put the Stay Matte foundation to use!
See that little blob? That is seriously all I needed to cover my entire face. It was almost a touch too much, in fact.
I dotted the foundation around my face, then blended with a makeup sponge. Can I tell you, this foundation blends like a dream! No visible makeup lines whatsoever!
And here I am with the Stay matte on! I feel that it brightened up my complexion overall while getting rid of the shine and redness.
And how did it perform? Wonderfully! I never had to powder my face once while I was gone all day. 🙂
So I am definitely going to be buying another tube when I run out of this one (which will be a while, as you see from the amount I used)! If you suffer from oily or combination skin ( I wouldn’t recommend this for dry skin), give Rimmel London Stay Matte Foundation a try when it hits American shores in January 2014!

REVIEW: Ivory 2 in 1 Hair & Body Wash
If you’re like me, your shower looks a lot like this:
I am a major bath and body addict, and my showers are filled with at least 4 or five different types of body wash, not to mention face washes, shampoo and conditioners, and my husband’s stuff too!
That’s why I was very happy to try out Ivory 2 in 1 Hair & Body Wash, thanks to Influenster. Not only does it save shower space, it offers all these benefits:
–Cleans head to toe with dual action formula
–Washes away dirt and odor
–Leaves hair clean and conditioned
–Free of dyes & heavy perfumes
— 50% MORE than other 2-IN-1 brands
–Made in the USA
I first used it as a body wash, and I have to say I was quite impressed with the amount of lather it made–this is very important to be in a body cleanser! It cleaned nicely and washed away easily, leaving a light, clean scent on my skin. As a shampoo, it was just OK for me…I needed my shampoo to bee just a little less heavy. My husband loved Ivory 2 in 1 for both his hair and body though! I can see us having so many uses for this product this summer: beach days, overnight trips, pool time. And we’ll only need to pack one bottle for the whole family.
You can find Ivory 2 in 1 Hair & Body Wash at Target, Walmart, and drugstores.
Be sure to check out Ivory’s Facebook page.

GIVEAWAY: Get Your Click on with BIC 4-Color Pens
Make writing fun with BIC® 4-Color™ Pens. At the click of a button, you can choose from 4 colors (red, green, blue and black) to fit any mood you’re in and take on any writing task at hand!
BIC® 4-Color™ Pen is four ink colors in one! With four ink choices, you can use it to write your seasonal shopping list, thank you notes, or to share your winter recipes with loved ones. It’s perfect for color-coding your lists or even your New Year’s Resolutions.
I know many of you remember these type of pens from elementary school! Mine had about 10 colors though:) But now that I’m an adult, I don’t really ever need to to write in purple, gold, or brown ink. But having one pen that can be used for practically anything? Yes, I was happy to test this pen out for Smiley360!
Even though my camera sucks, you can clearly see the difference in colors of the ink. The pen started writing immediately, all four colors…you know sometimes when you get new pens and you have to scratch-scratch-scratch on the paper to get the ink flowing? There was none of that going on here.
I also liked that you didn’t have to retract one color of ink before you could use the next one. If I recall correctly, the multi-color pens of our childhood had a button on top you had to click to “clear” the pen before using a different color. Not with the BIC 4-Color Pen. Using red then need black? Click black. Then click back to red.
I gave my personal pen to my husband to use at work. He has many documents he needs to sign with different colors of ink, so I believe he will love only having to carry one pen in his shirt pocket rather than three! When he brings it home I will use it to color code our appointments on the calendar. I can also see teachers loving this pen a lot.
Be sure to ‘Like’ BIC Pen Pals on Facebook for future offers and news on their great line-up of products. There’s also a coupon for $1.00 off.
I have another, brand new BIC 4-Color pen that I’d like to give to one of my readers! I know many of you are book bloggers and journalers…this pen will be perfect for you to write in the margins!
Just leave a comment here to tell me which color you think would be your fave.

imPRESS Press-On Manicure–Influenster
I am usually one to do my own nails…one reason is because I always feel awkward when the tech is holding hand at the nail salon (I’m neurotic.). The main reason though, is just that my nails are the one place I really like to be creative and daring. I will try crazy colors and designs on my nails that I would never try in clothing. I think it’s because nail polish can be changed so quickly 🙂
So when I got the imPRESS Press-On Manicure to try out from Influenster, I was definitely ready to try it out–even though I have only had fake nails a couple of times in my life (ah, prom).
The container that the nails come in is really cute–it looks like an actual nail polish bottle! The color I received to try was called Chic Mystique. It’s a pretty ballerina pink with white floral designs overlaid.
The instructions said to just match the nails to your real ones, lay all ten out, then peel off the back sticker and press firmly over your real nails. So I did. Really easy to do, and I love that there was no need to use sticky, smelly glue that I would probably only glue my fingers together with anyway.
I really love how they turned out looking! The color and design are so awesome and definitely right up my alley–I am a girly girl. The day I put these nails on was also the same day we ended up taking down our Christmas tree and all the decorations and lights, and the nails stayed put through all that. I also put together a Hot Wheels track for my son while wearing these. It was a little difficult, but doable. And the nails stayed put.
I actually ended up taking these off myself before they fell off, just because the feeling of fake nails on my hands is not something I’m used to. It was also a little awkward to be wearing them because my real nails were about the same length as the press on ones! They were really easy to remove. I’m sure if I had left them on they would have stayed for several days longer–up to a week!
imPRESS Press-On Manicure is a fast, easy way to do your own nails at home without the mess or smell! I would definitely wear these in different designs, for a special occasion or party. You can find them at many stores including CVS, Walmart, Walgreens, and more. There are 36 patterns and colors in the collection. Check out imPress Manicure to see the other awesome designs!

NYC New York Color Liquid Lipshine–Influenster
You can ask anyone I know, and they will confirm that I am a lip gloss addict. At this moment I probably have at least 5 glosses in my purse and who knows how many more in my makeup bag. So needless to say I was pretty thrilled when I got the chance to try NYC Liquid Lipshine through Influenster’s VoxBox program.
The shade I got was a really gorgeous neutral called Honey on the Hudson.
The results I got…well, see for yourself.
NYC Liquid Lipshine was everything I could want in a gloss. It stayed put FOREVER, was just the right amount of glossy without being too over the top, and left my lips moisturized even way after I had cleaned it off. It did seem a bit sticky but I may have put too much on.
To top it all off, this fabulous lip gloss retails for only $2.49!! You will pay 3 or 4 times that much for a gloss from some other cosmetic brands…but I’m sold on NYC now! It comes in 10 shades ranging from nudes to fuchsias, so you are sure to find something you will love. You should be able to find it at a store near you, such as Walmart, CVS, Kroger, and many more. Check out New York Color for more information on Liquid Lipshine and other NYC products.
